What can I expect on my first visit?


For your first appointment, expect to spend about an hour reviewing your medical history and current reasons for seeking psychiatric help. We'll review practice and billing policies and I'll also ask for an emergency contact. Sometimes it's helpful to speak with a family member or prior/current therapist or psychiatrist to get additional information. I'll only do this with your permission. We may or may not decide to prescribe medication at the first visit and I'll discuss the various options as well as risks, benefits, and alternatives of medication.




How to I pay for sessions?


I accept cash, check or credit card currently. Payment is due upon receipt of services unless we agree to a monthly billing plan at which point you will receive a monthly bill via email/mail and payment is due within 15 days.




Do you take any insurance?


At this time I do not accept any insurance. If you have out-of-network mental health benefits through your insurance company, you may be eligible to receive 60-80% of the cost of sessions reimbursed by your insurance company. I highly encourage you to discuss this with your insurance company prior to scheduling an appointment. In some cases, a sliding scale fee might be agreed upon.




How do you protect my privacy?


I use an electronic medical record called "Luminello" that is HIPAA compliant and uses high level encryption to make sure your data stays safe. It also provides a HIPAA compliant patient portal and messaging system so you can send me private messages, see your account, create your own billing statements and schedule/cancel your appointments.
